![]() STATS ⚡NAME: Raiden, a codename given to him during the Big Shell mission. His birthname is Jack (nicknamed Jack the Ripper from a young age), but that knowledge is reserved for people who are closer to him. ⚡AGE: 30+ during MGS4, 26-28 during MGS2, 35-40 during Rising. ⚡CANONPOINT: Rising or MGS4 for any scenarios involving his cyborg body. MGS2 for anything before it. I'm up for all three, of course. FIRST IMPRESSIONS ⚡ VISUAL: The first thing a person is liable to noticing about Raiden is that his body is far from human; from the neck down is the exoskeleton of a cyborg, shapely and packed with muscle. It's accompanied by thick heels and talon-like claws, while the bottom half of his jaw is cybernetic. He has a civilian body that is fashioned to resemble that of a human's, but his joints are marked as though he were a doll, and he glows an unhealthy pale. Still, while clothed, it's harder to tell — whether or not he chooses to be clothed is a matter of the question. Here is a visual for MGS4, and here is a visual for Rising. Aside from that, his face is distinctly feminine, steel eyed and lily-white in its skintone. He stands at approximately 6 foot 1. Pre-cyborg Raiden is a little different and stands at 5 foot 10. His body is still flesh and bone, and he's often fitted in a skin-tight combat ready suit that leaves little to the imagination. ⚡ SOUND: Raiden's voices in Japanese and English are worlds apart. In English, he's voiced by Quinton Flynn and sounds more natural during the events of Metal Gear Rising (outside of Ripper Mode, in which case his voice descends into something much more guttural and raspy). It's smooth with an edge of gruffness about it. In MGS4, his voice is initially throaty and low due to his artificial voice box — however there are traces of the pointed and high pitched tone he once carried. He speaks tiredly and with little passion more often than not. In Japanese, he is voiced by Kenyu Horiuchi, whose voice is much deeper and more fluid. Pre cyborg Raiden, on the other hand, has a rather buoyant and boyish voice in English; his mannerisms are rife with emotion and enthusiasm at times. ⚡ MENTAL: Raiden is extremely unwell. He is a former child soldier who has struggled with dissociative amnesia and identity disorder, psychosis, addiction, suicide ideation and severe PTSD. He's prone to exhibiting extreme volatility and hyperviolent tendencies. His background as a child soldier, grooming and torture have left him with a case of trauma induced psychopathy. Raiden's cyborg body is also the byproduct of him having been abducted and experimented on relentlessly; his bodily autonomy has been ripped away from him time and time again, and each and every time has left him more broken than the last. Differentiating between reality and fiction poses a great problem to him, and even moreso is understanding who he is and what he means to the world. In Rising, he suffers from an outright psyche split wherein he's created an alter named "Jack" to comparmentalize his trauma and survive in combat. ⚡ POWERS: It's Metal Gear Solid.
